Big hunk of meniscus that needs stitched back into place, while I'm under he'll double check my MCL to see if it needs an anchor or two.

Surgery on Friday. I'm not worried about that.

It'll have been 2.5 weeks post injury. It's been a loong couple of weeks. I'll have to have my leg locked in a straight position for 6 weeks after that. That's going to be fun.

Been there done that.

Ski crash in 1997. Lost half the meniscus in my right knee along with a torn ACL. ACL was rebuilt with my hamstring. At 54 Knee seems to be holding up OK. Occasional arthritic discomfort a few times a year but nothing debilitating.

2013. Tore ACL and tore meniscus playing volleyball. Meniscus was repaired (stem cell drop from bone marrow) ACL replaced from a cadaver.

If you have some good level of care in your area check into stem cell treatment for your meniscus.

Ah bummer, sorry to hear of it.

Speedy recovery!

Are you going to do some upper body work in the meantime then?

I'm installing a hangboard on a door frame hopefully prior to the surgery. I've already got a pretty decent home gym dumbbell setup. I've always used them standing or on a ball. I'll probably look to add a basic bench to the room to facilitate my gimpy leg.

Like I said on the previous page, I reluctantly cancelled the order on a new more aggressive mountain bike. In addition, I've taken my gravel bike off the market, I'll keep it. I've got a feeling I'll be better off doing some smooth pedalling rather than stomping the landing this season.

Sorry about your injury. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Would love to know the connection between rosefarts and SoSmellyAir and the meaning behind both names :)

I figured out SoSmellyAir! :D
Not giving it away though.

This is a great summation of the situation! I can identify as I am just about at week 4 of 6 wearing a gunslinger arm brace following shoulder surgery and I ain't gonna sugar coat it, IT SUCKS! Look on the bright side, at least you'll have two arms...

Yep, visibility at Whistler can be a problem. Mountains are low, sea is near, prevailing wind is from the West...

Sorry man, that really sucks. With the $$ you're saving on your lift tickets, maybe you can swing ski school for the kiddos, so at least they won't miss out.

It's a little confusing because I had mentioned a bike trip to Whistler this summer. That's still on, since my wife is signed up for a running race there.

I crashed in Oregon. Rime ice forming on my goggles and was just cruising down a well known easy trail to the car.

No money to save, 1200 for a season pass already spent. Now I'm not using it. It's practically spring conditions there now. I'm not missing any good skiing this year.

I can feel for your loss of being able to cycle for a while.
Mid Feb. I went down on right hip due to bike slipping under me from ice.
It fractured socket cup at 2 locations. 5 days in hospital and 2 Ti screws inserted to stabilize fracture.
Will be getting incision staples removed Mar10.
It so far been a slow improving process. Not sure when I will be able to start riding again.

Best wishes on your fast recovery.
