The correlation between Caesar's use of illieism and his untimely demise is tenuous at best.

The correlation between a random ticking that ignores the laws of speed and cadence and potential disaster is as yet unknown.

Anything that ignores the law of speed is very, very serious. You need to take it to a professional mechanic that communicates in the first person.

The OP utilizes illieism for precisely the same reasons as Julius Caesar.

Good news or merely a brief respite, but the ticking has again ceased.

It is only resting. It will be back with a vengeance and even haunt your dreams. Tick, tick, tick…..

My heart valves are still ticking.

Stand to side of bike. Put one hand on saddle, the other on handlebar stem. Push on one while pulling on the other. Now reverse. Listen for clicking. If heard, trace down. Inspect bike frame carefully for any cracks, followed by seat post, stem, etc.

Pedal bearings: Click can be erratic, it's from bearing ball squirting out along bearing track, due to bearing being too loose, so you have ball skidding instead of rolling. Try wiggling pedal, you should have some looseness. If so, service pedals, if you are able.

Does Band Camp await?

Major faceplant moment today: I came to a complete stop at an intersection, and the bike kept ticking. That was my Eureka moment. Now the question is why it's happening and how to fix it. I’ll be posting a detailed query in the appropriate forum soon.

Why start now?

Did you mean face palm?🤦‍♂️. It’s a little early to be PUI.

Faceplant; figuratively fails badly, which I will admit to in diagnosing the tick. Too wrapped up in the Hook/crocodile analogy to see the forest for the trees.

Nope. Redefining words after you misuse them is not allowed.

Broken spoke, swinging back and forth, even after stopped. At that moment, spoke was probably facing down, suspended from above by hub or rim, so swinging like a pendulum. Other positions and it would lay flat quickly due to its own mass.

Bike computer software glitch. Hard reset so far has remedied the issue.

Happens to all us. Three very useful things I have learned on Youtube. THE definitive answer!

#1-Bottom bracket. It's always the bottom bracket.
#2-It's never the bottom bracket.
#3-Look to the last thing you worked on before the noise. It's that.

Next it'll become self-aware. Then link up with Skynet. You're patient zero. Congratulations.
