different design of frames// grip or rapid fire
Hi, I wanna know which are better frame designs? Y frame, diamond frame or any other design? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Which is better? Grip shift or the normal gear shift (Shimano) or the dual action shift (Shimano)?
Thanks

Hehe- I've seen Gripshift vs. Rapidfire threads go on for pages and pages... We have both on our fleet of police bikes, and I use both extensively. They both work fine.
As to frame design, it's hard to beat the standard diamond frame (around since the turn of the century) for simplicity and strength. Where it doesn't shine is in adaptation for rear suspension. Most of the more radical frame designs that have been tried recently are meant for various types of suspension systems.
I would think the future of radical designs would be some sort of monocoque frame made of very exotic materials. (carbon nanotubes, for instance.)
