Interesting that the name sounds Japanese - more than likely the bikes were made in Japan, but it's interesting that a Canadian company would choose a Japanese sounding brand name.

Anyway, Nishiki bikes ranged from road racers to mountain bikes, so it's not much to go on to say that a bike is a Nishiki, any more than it is to say that the bike is a 'Trek'.
Nishiki was a well recognized name in its own right, Norco merely were the importer and distributor.

I picked one up for 12 dollars at the Salvation Army several years ago. The fork was bent but I replaced it and everything else is still stock. I love my Purple Nishiki Sport 12 speed. Oh....it does have my B17 installed. And with those lugs it looks so @&#$ing COOL! As a matter of fact. Think I'll mount her right now and go for a little spin....

There is a Nishiki rusting away at the train station where I commute from. It looks almost exactly like my Super Le Tour only thing I see different is the silver paint job on the Niushiki. If I could figure out who owns it I'd buy it. There is an old Emglish 10 speed chained to it as well.

I want both of them but alas.
