not too long ago a bike shop opened less than 10 miles from my house, and there was much rejoicing. two weeks ago i was one day away from doing the MS150 ride and needed a pump. "call the local!" i say to myself. i wanted a frame mounted zefal hpx. he didn't have one, have to order it, but he did have a topeak he says. "i want to mount it under the top tube, 54 cm frame, will it fit?" "sure will", he says. cool. so i stop in, again state the top tube thing as i didn't want to lose the bottle cage on the seat tube. he assures it will fit so i buy it, take it home, cot damn thing is too short. i take it back and tell him i need to return it, it doesn't fit. he clearly does not want to take it back, but he does, and tells me i'm not going to be able to find one that fits snug.

yesterday my new zefal hpx came from nashbar. fits me bike all snuggy snug snug. i am happy. i guess i'll also be happy to drive the 45 miles to the bike shop i normally go to. *maybe* i'll go back one more time to buy the cleats for some shimano pd7700s i got for a steal that i asked him to order. maybe.

I would trade my Topeak pump for anything.

I'm pretty fond of my crank bros pump. Either way...now you know where to go if you know exactly what you want...

I like my morph pumps. You can hang them from the frame or stick them in a camelbak.

It doesn't matter what pump you have. As long as you carry one, a patch kit, and a couple of levers, you won't get flats.
