First of all, I'm from New Zealand. The trek hybrids that we get here are different to the US. Our version is EXACTLY the same spec as the US FX models except the addition of a suspension fork. That is the only difference.

Now, I was at the bike shop yesterday. The only Trek hybrid they had was a 2005 7100FXS for $699 (NZ$). I asked him when the 2006 models were coming in and he said December. It gets better. The 2006 7300FXS is also $699 - that means the 2006 7300FXS is the same price as this year's 7100FXS!

After this delightful price shock, when I got home, I thought "why not the 7500FXS?". I wasn't prepared to spend over $1000 and I assumed the 7500FXS would be over this. But now I'm not so sure!

My Question: Should I get the 7500FXS over the 7300FXS?

The wheels on the 7500FXS seem to have less spokes. Does this mean they're fragile?

What are your thoughts on the 7300FXS and the 7500FXS?

Basically, is the 7500FXS worth the extra money?

The 7500FX is worth the extra for the better wheels and crank. Generally all the parts a slight step up. The Frames though ate the same.
