What would you do?
A few years ago my son, friend and I watched this kid through a bicycle in the weeds near a baseball stadium. We laughed about his hiding place, but afterwards I started thinking about it, and let one of the officers know what we saw. He had us take him to the spot, and when we looked there must have been six or seven bikes in a pile down a hill in the weeds there. We all thought this kid must have been swiping bikes to get to there, and just leaving them.
The officer called one of his co workers to take pictures and help him sort through all the bikes. About this time the game let out, and a bunch of kids came over wondering what the cops were doing with their bikes.
It turned out that a group of kids were hiding their beater bikes in the weeds while they went to the local baseball game because there was no place to lock up their bikes at the stadium.
We all got a good laugh out of it, except the kids that thought the cops were going to take their bikes. The next week when we went to another game we found all the bikes locked up on a shiny new bike rack next to the main entrance.

Well I think you should get a pass on this one. I may have done the same thing as you. Being socially conscious can sometimes come back and bite you. Look at it this way....it was your call that got the kids a bike rack at the ballpark, where there should have been one in the first place.

I probably would have gone over and checked it out myself. Must be the vigilante in me. Anyhow, they were kids.
