The shirts are sounding better and better everyday, Im thinking we should infact start with shirts now, and maybe get some jerseys in the future.

Hi there guys, yes the t-shirt / jersey idea is a totally cool idea, It might be wothwhile to check out an Australian manufacturer as the Aus dollar is worth half of the American dollar eg: if it was to cost $20 American to make you could get it done here in Oz for $10 !! cost to you !! I don't know the URL's but check out BODYTORQUE and NETTI they are local companies that do custom jerseys.....

I hate to be a party pooper or whatever you might call it, but I would really prefer a jersey to a t-shirt. I just donated a bunch of t-shirts to Goodwill or somebody. I wind up with tons of t-shirts from races, advertising, blood donation, etc.. And I am just not a t-shirt wearer, though I know a lot of people are. I was using some of them for riding, but then I got some solid yellow and red Coolmax t-shirts. Now I wear only those because they are so much more comfortable in the heat.

I would buy one t-shirt in solidarity, but, in truth, I would probably never wear it. On the other hand, I have already committed to Ba-Dg-Er that I would buy 2 jerseys, whatever the price. To me, the jersey would make a statement that a t-shirt cannot approach.

Once we get a design and see if we can meet the minimums, maybe we could have some t-shirts done, also. Tell you what, if we do that, I will also buy a t-shirt to help get the numbers up to make sure we can get enough volume.

It's just a matter of personal preference.

I don't mind wearing a cycling jersey w/ all the companies name on it as long as it bring the cost of the Jersey down

T-shirt I will also buy, but I will really buy a Bikeforum Jersey if the price is reasonable , so Ba-Dg-Er.. check out my suggestion, it may bring the cost down....

Same here, and I would in my heart of hearts (wherever that is) go for the jersey in first place, T-shirt second unless the jersey is going to cost the member more than $35 (I want to say $30).

Definitely I would want the T-shirt eventually because it's good advertising in non-bike moments.

Summary of my feelings:

Jersey: yes, if final (user) price $35 or less;

T-shirt: yes, even if jerseys turn out impractical or too high-priced.

I am all for it if the price is less than $35.00 u.s. that means its $56.00 canadian, I have a budget for that amount

Good offer Mike, although I would prefer a bike specific jersey if it wasn't too out of this world expensive. It's nice to have the pockets and zip etc.

Yup, definitely would prefer a jersey, but would also purchase a T shirt. Something to consider; Not everyone will be 100% satisfied with color, style, etc.....but compromise is good for the character.(or something like that)

We can have both a cost effective T-shirt AND a groovy, functional jersey all in one.

Attached is a page from the book "The Bicycling Book" written by John Krausz and Vera van der Reis Krausz published in 1982. (This is a very fun and informative book, by the way).

Maybe this kind of functional home-made stuff isn't cool in these modern times, but I can tell from the "who are you" thread that some of you were wearing tie-dye when it was cool the first time around.

Anyway, the attached page from this book shows how to make a bicycle jersey with three pockets from an ordinary T-shirt. Of course, the better quality the T-shirt, the better the quality of the jersey.

I would buy a jersey if the price isn't too high, $50 is the most I would pay. I wouldn't really be interested in a cotton t-shirt as I have plently of them already. I often ride in t-shirts but that's only because I already have them.

I think an option may be to go with a t-shirt made out of coolmax or some other wicking material. You can often find good prices on those especially if you're buying a lot and are flexible on the color. I would definitely be interested in something like that. It would be more comfortable on the bike than a cotton t-shirt and you could still wear it in what Jon calls nonbike moments. Just an idea.

Glad somebody else likes my favorite color. (It may have something to do with my partial color-blindness: yellow is a less threatening color than red or green.)

Coolmax sounds good. I've never tried it but I can certainly attest to cotton being not so good on a bike.

So what happened to your helmet?

I think performance has a deal where you can get a club name put on a jersey.

I think telekom pink would be nice, or USPS blue. Somewhere in this website I dissed Telekom, but I didn't remeber that was the team Jan rides for. If anybody remembers that post disregard it. Telekom is my second favorite team.

I would rather start with Jersey's than with T-shirts. But I'll go either way.

Not just Ullrich, but also Danilo Hondo. He just won two stage vicories in two days at the Giro. Telekom is impressive this year. However, I don't think I'd be too excited about wearing Telekom pink...even with the big T on my right shoulder.

I think I remember reading in his book that Lance was on the Telekom team before he had cancer.

I think the BikeForums colors, maybe a slightly lighter version of the blue, would be appropriate for the jerseys.

I don't mind high visiblity colours, either, as a matter of fact I have a yellow jersey, which I bought just for that reason.

The only thing is with yellow, it tends to attract a lot of poser(maillot jeune)comments, and I end up not wearing it much (except when I'm in the lead in our unofficial mileage competition here at work, of course!)

As much as I like yellow, I think it would be a good idea to avoid it for that reason. Especially if we're going to be riding in the Pyrenees.

Yeah, I already have so many yellow jerseys (from all my TdF stage wins, of course), and blue jerseys. Howzabout ORANGE?

I'm not too keen on orange. It clashes too much with my red hair. The last time I wore an orange shirt I got doused with a bucket of water. I was given the explaination, "I'm sorry, I thought you were a fire!"

Have you thought of shaving your head? (See thread on "What do you wear under your helmet?") Hair causes nothing but problems! And you're finding that out!
