I'll buy them from you man. Performance is a multi-gazillion dollar company. If anything, this mistake only strengthens your faith in the company! Think about it, you'll just buy THAT many more things from them because of this one incident that turned out in your favor.

Performance gains an ecstatic customer, you gain, well, pedals I guess.

I'd keep it.

So stealing from someone is ok once they become rich? Glad to hear it.

Send one email to customer service. If they really want the stuff back, then they will respond. It was not your mistake, so you should not spend more than a few minutes (for karma) of your time correcting theirs.

I really don't think they will even care. First of all, they have to pay someone to read your email, and email or contact you (possibly several times), then pay shipping to send you shipping labels, pay someone to stuff the envelope with the shipping labels, then pay for the shipping labels that are used to send the parts back, then pay someone to take the the delivery, open the package, recatalog and restock the parts. That doesn't include any insurance hassles if they claimed a shipping loss. I think that if the stuff was already marked down, then they will have a hard time making profit by taking the parts back and reselling. The bottom line is they will take the parts back if they can make money.

Edit: Bad splleing, err, spelling

Listen Jack@ss, you not the moral moderator of this forum. Thats the "karma gods" job, right? Unless im mistaken, my karma is going to catch up with me. so let it. If you want to flame me or whatever for being morally repugnat then go ahead.

When I hear your squaking it makes me think that in the begining of every messed up situation in this world, someone like you thinks hes doing the right thing by messing someone over. Is'nt that the suicide bombers whole trip?

you won the prize, so let it slide.

right

I think the comparison between this situation and a suicide bomber is in very bad taste and really just stupid.

Keep the pedals if you want, but I doubt it will make you many friends. Bicycle folks seem sensitive about theft (myself included- our chosen activity comes with the real risk of the theft of your pride and joy). Enjoy the pedals.

By the way, if someone chose to follow your advice and "try it for yourself" intentionally it would be called mail fraud.

Beautiful. Are you not messing someone over by stealing from them? Don't you think you are doing the right thing by stealing?

You are one very confused person.....

I didnt "steal" anything anyway for the record, I just don't want to ship it back.

I just want to reiterate my take on this with a metaphor.

If a coke machine gives you two cans of coke for the price of one, are you going to take the can back to Mr. Coke so that you not stealing?

I can understand if it was a cashier at a store or something. They get there tills counted at night. But were talking about a damn can of coke here.

No, we are not talking about a can of coke, we are talking about pedals which were shipped twice in good faith. Performance did right by you by re-shipping the pedals. You return the favor by screwing them. Real cool.

I agree with deefhoof. So heres an idea, if it bothers you so much, why don't you pay to ship the pedals back?

Oh, because it wasn't your fault. Just like it wasn't his fault. If they want them back, they will pay for shipping. To not do so would be ridiculous on their part. By the way, if you just send them back without getting the okay, there will be no record they are recieving an over processed order and then some goon with no morals working at the loading dock will take them. If Performance then tells you it wants the pedals, well you're up sh*t creek. I doubt they would have much of a moral dilema about putting a collection agency on your ass.

While deerhoof wouldn't have recieved two sets of pedals if he didn't call and ask for the shipment to be re-sent, I fully asume that performance will pay for the shipping. It's SOP.

Another poster backed me up on this. Performance is not organized right now.

I picked up my dream bike 2 months ago, and have since only been able to ride a few times with some crappy platfroms. Know why? the bike didn't come with pedals. So I ordered some, And in "GOOD FAITH*".
they never arrived. I called. I called. So they cheated me out of 8 weeks of ride time. Maybey I should sick a collection agency on them?

*GOOD FAITH is something you do when you mow someones lawn. They have my card on record im sure, and how many times it was shipped.

deerhoof 04-18-06 04:56 PM

IM DONE WITH THIS STUPID THREAD. Sorry for starting it.

You are a real piece of work. There are hundreds of online retailers, and you choose Performance. Then post trying to justify keeping a double shipment. I'm sorry you are out a little time, life is like that. All these people that hate Performance, well shop somewhere else. I've found them to be excellent in product offering, customer support, and prices. All you have to do is fill out the return label stick it in the box and pay the $5 postage, simply state on the return form you would like the postage reimbursed. If you do it online at www.USPS.com you can pay shipping online and drop it in a mail box or hand it to a carrier. Real hard to do the right thing.

No wonder it's so hard for business to stay in business, with everyone trying to stick it to them. I checked out his web site, he's a college kid, you would think he would know better. I hope he isn't representative of his generation.

What a fun reading thread. Classic story. Good versus evil.

You posted on a public forum that invites response. You got it. The only flaming I did was to tell you that you were about to commit a crime. Sorry

Fixed again.

Oh poor, poor little baby. You were out of time riding. You poor thing!

I now understand that you think the world owes you something, and it does; a swift kick in the ass to knock some sense into you. I'm sure I'll be coming soon. Watch out!

Is this a moral dillema?

What goes around comes around. They shipped to you without a second thought. That is the best reason I've ever heard to shop at performance. now you have twice what you need. so it will either 1) sit around your house, 2) make you those few extra bucks you can drop on a movie or 3) continue the cycle of good karma in the world. Your choice. For the rest of the real working/biking crowd out here you just gave performance the best plug yet. good luck on your journey.:)
