performance screw up
on the 14 th of last month i put a order in for some new crank bros pedals, chiain cleaner, a new tool and some other stuff. It never came. I called last week and they said they would re ship this. It came on monday. Then this morning someone knocked on my door and left, out side was the same package.
I think what happened is a lazy neighbor got it and took two weeks to give it to me. So now I have two sets of pedals and other stuff. Performance only billed my card once. Is this a moral dillema? |
Give them a call and let them know what probably happened. Performance will probably run a trace on the "lost" shipment anyway.
Then performance can get the shipper to pick the second box up at no cost to you, of course. |
I don't know. My initial reaction is to keep it.
|
Send it back. Keeping it is wrong.....you know it to be true.....

Send it back! Performance did the right thing and sent you replacement stuff, now it's your turn.

Yeah, contact Performance. Who knows you might get lucky. If it was insured they could have already gotten their money back on it.
|
i would call them up, and send it back.. If they somehow find out that you got the original order, after complaining that you didnt get it, you could potentially get into a lot of trouble.
|
There was someone here who experienced the same thing. When he called, the company told him to keep it since all the paperwork on their end was done. Or something like that. Either way, it's a good feeling to be honest. You don't want bad luck to come your way.

YOu would have to be outta yer mind to send it back! There is not a thing they can do to you. |
My advice is to at least call them and do the right thing...
A couple of years ago I ordered a computer from Dell. They called me the next week and said that the sound card I wanted was backordered. So I told them to cancel that order, and re-ordered the system with a different sound card. A few days later, I got my re-ordered computer. Two days after that, the original order showed up on my doorstep! Apparently, my original order had been cancelled, but was already in the shipping process. It was already out the door before they cancelled the order. I called Dell, and they said they would send me return shipping labels and would have UPS come and pick the extra system up. I waited two weeks with no return labels, and hearing nothing else from them (by the way, they only charged me for the re-ordered system, which was cheaper than the original system!). I called them again, and they told me they would send them ASAP. I ended up waiting for 6 months on those return labels, with the extra computer just sitting in my garage, in unopened boxes. So, I figured Dell had forgotten about it, and sold the extra computer on eBay for $1200!!! Moral of the story: At least try to do the right thing...you never know how it will work out in the end! |
keep It, Performance Shouldnt Even Be A Bike Shop, And Real Bike Riders Know Not To Shop At Performance!
They hire total cretins, and have nothing but garbage for what they cary. Forte is garbage, Pearl Izumi falls apart, IronHorse bikes are trash, hell they carry Schwinn, and Wal-Mart sells Schwinn. That should tell you somthing right there. |
My Postmaster told me Performance's shipping and handling firm went bankrupt and stuff ended up stranded in warehouses for awhile. I ordered tires in March and they never came so I called Performance the first of this week and told them I wanted to cancel my order. They credited my account. The tires came Wednesday and I still needed them, so I called Performance and told them to recharge my account. I asked the lady on the phone about the rumour that their shipper went bankrupt and she confirmed it.

thats what I like to hear! Those bastards should shut down!
For all of you that do shop at performance and pay prices that soar over most local bike shops; Find yourself a nice pro-shop. |

It's not a dilemma at all. Return one of the packages. I'd say someone else should pay the shipping, not you, since it was a mis-delivery and no fault of yours.

A note on the morality of returning such packages: it costs time and money for the company to ship and process returns. Unless its an expensive item you aren't necessarily doing them a big favor by returning it. Especially if they've already claimed the insurance value from the shipping company if it was reported as lost in transit. Whatever you paid for it, it's worth half retail price or less to the company you bought it from.

In the case of my extra Dell, I have a clear conscience because I tried to make it right. Maybe Dell just did not want to deal with the hassle of the return process, or had already written off the loss. My conscience would be nagging me if I had not called them to attempt to return the extra item. |
Oh, and "half retail price" on the returned item is probably still a pretty good markup/profit.
|
You should at least try to contact them. It was not their fault, and there is a very good chance that they won't ask that it be returned.

troll, haha.. Good looking troll. I Loath Performance more than any of you could ever imagine. All the Performance shops I have visited, have hired all cretins. Knowlege in all shops were lacking.
You probley shop at REI aswell, and you try to say they have the best prices; screw corporate bicycle shops, and camping shops. |
