Riding in Maine?

I have a free USAir ticket to burn and am looking for a place to us it. I am considering Maine. I'll only be there for a long weekend and probably won't tour. And won't take my bike, just too much hassle and cost for a long weekend. Maybe just rent a bike. Is anyone familiar with a nice place to ride, not to far off from a major airport that would also have a decent place to rent bicycles?

Maybe I should have posted this on the touring forum but since I won't actually be touring well............

There are nice places in Bar Harbor to rent bikes and ride them-- the carriage roads are really nice and quite rideable on a road bike, and there's nice riding all over the island if you stay away from the main road on/off the island. There are a bunch of bike rental places on the island, but some may not open before memorial day. I think Bar Harbor bike shop in downtown is open year round (but may not have rentals year round), and there are shops in southwest and northeast harbor, too.

USAir flys to Bar Harbor and Orono (about an hour away).

I found Machias & East Machias incredibly picturesque.
