Trunk rack Vandals

Trunk rack Vandals
Do people leave their trunk racks on their cars ?
I'm looking at picking up a bones 2 trunk rack. 150 bucks is easier to part with than 800 compared to the thule/yakima type roof systems.
The advantage of the roof system is it seems like a system you leave on and forget about. Where the trunk rack is installed when you need it only.
Anyone had people steal or vandalize their trunk racks when they used it to go somewhere to start a ride ? Or do you take it off and store it in the trunk while your out riding ?

I leave my trunk rack on all the time, except during the dead of winter when road salt could corrode the medal finish. I have never had any trouble from vandals. I used to tether my rack to the car with a security cable and padlock, but I no longer bother with that.

I have a SARIS Bones have left it on quite a bit but never had anyone mess with it. However, I have had the police pull me over because of it when I didn't have a bike on it and I put the arms down. They said they were blocking the license plate. I have also noticed that the web straps are a bit photo-sensitive so they degrade after a while in the sun so it's probably best to take it off and put it in the trunk if you aren't going to be using it for a while.
