Yakima or Nissan factory roof rack on Maxima?
Hi... new here. Any recommendations on roof racks for a 2002 Nissan Maxima? I see Yak's most often, but the factory rack seems like it could be a better fit (?).

Hi Brian and welcome to BikeForums.
I have a Yakima roof rack with 2 bike carriers.
The Nissan roof rack looks a lot like the Yakima and it looks like it mounts to the vehicle in the same manner.
You'll still need the bike carrier to mount your bikes.
It's hard to tell and the website doesn't say anything locking, but that's something else you'll want -- locks.
The Yakima bike holder can be locked so your bike is safe and the roof rack can be locked onto the vehicle. Without locks your bike can be stolen in a few seconds and without locks on the Q towers (roof mount) the roof rack can be removed (stolen) in a few minutes or less.

Forgot to ask this.
Will you have to take the car to the dealership if you have problems with the roof rack?
Yakima parts and accessories can be purchased or serviced (warranty) at most bike shops, REI, on-line retailers, etc.
