Helmets for really big heads?

OK, I'm looking for a helmet for a friend who has a very big head. 25 1/4" around, in fact. I know that Bell makes one helmet that is made specially for large heads, but it is sooooo d@mn ugly, he wouldn't be caught dead in one! (For those who haven't seen the one I'm talking about, it's so ugly they don't even show it on their site! It looks for all the world like an oversized toddler's helmet-only lacking a few Barney stickers...). My LBS, in their infinite wisdom, has decided to stop carrying it, anyways...
From what I can find on numerous components sites, his head is about 1/2" to 3/4" larger than any helmet available from the major manufacturers.
Since we're planning on doing a longish tour this spring (If I have either the time or $$, depending on how my employment situation works out), I'd really like to see him wear a helmet. I'm not going to be picky about the type of helmet-just as long as it fits on his head properly.
So, does anybody out there know of a helmet that would fit? BTW, 25.25"=64cm. I'd even consider ordering from another country, provided the cost isn't too terrible.

I have a big melon head like your friend, I have a Giro Switchblade for a helmet. It has 18 vents good adjustment for different heads, is large, and has a removable face guard. So it can be a normal helmet or full DH/FR helmet. It might work for your friend call Giro or retailer for sizing.

Aw c'mon, are you sure the helmet is not for your head?
Is that why are you concerned about how it looks?

How did you go finding a helmet, any luck yet?

I have just measured my nut and its saying 64cm's which equates to 25 1/4 roughly, both of my LBS's have nothing.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers
Mike

Well, time for an update. My friend went with me to the LBS the other day, looking for a helmet. The shop didn't have any Giro Havocs, but they did have one of those Bell King-whatever full-sized buckets, so he tried it on. Guess what? It's too big!!! It seems to be made for either people with 26"+ heads (or for people with big hair). The thing was huge and had no adjustment at all!

Well, he's back at square one, and I don't know what to tell him. It seems that there are no helmets available for people that have heads in the 25" to 26" circumference size! The Giro Havoc lists maximum size as being 24 3/4", and that seems to be the biggest available. Surely, there must be something made, somewhere?

At this point, I'm wondering if there may be another type of helmet available-perhaps a skating helmet? Snowboard helmets are probably too warm, and motorcycle helmets are too heavy.

Any suggestions??

(BTW, for those from metric countries, the size I need would be somewhere in the 635-640 mm circumference size, if that's any help)

Check out Limar helmets. I seem to remember that they have a larger sized helmet in their lineup.

Well, good news. The 2 of us went over to one of those "mall" sporting goods stores-one that happens to carry Giro helmets. Turns out that some Giro helmets (those that come in "L/XL" size) just barely fit him (the "universal fit" models don't). The store wanted something like $69 for a havoc, which was steep, but at least he knows that he can order any of 3 or 4 models through mail order now.
Still, I'm surprised that there seem to be zero helmets available in any size between these and that big Bell bucket. If there is enough market for something that big, then ther is certainly a market for something in the in-between sizes.
FWIW, though, I'd bet that most of those king-sized Bell helmets are bought for women that have "big hair" and need something to fit over it.
