Wow, that's awesome. What kind of questions did people throw at Sheldon? Frankly, I'd be a lot more excited to meet Sheldon than Lance. To Lance I'd say, "You won 7 Tours, pretty awesome!", and he'd say "Yep!" ... with Sheldon I think I could talk for a while (assuming he'd put up with me).

Sheldon, if you're reading this, come to the DC area

I'd say the tour, more than lance, was the reason I re-entered cycling with a road bike. although were it not for lance, I might have never started watching the tour.

Sheldon on the other hand gets about half the blame for me doing all my own wrenching, the other half is just me being a tinkerer. (by the way that's both blame from my fiance (she hates when my hands get dirty) and thanks (she likes not seeing money go down the drain on repairs for anything))

As for cycling, I can thank my fat and my (near) poverty for actually convincing me to get back on a bike.

Sheldon no doubt about it. I mean, I know LA has done alot, but personally I consider Sheldon a true gentleman and in terms of cycling, is just far more influential for me. Everytime I go into Harris Cyclery (he was in today) I ask to give him my best regards.
