Bicycling photos

I was searching through my stock photo discs, hoping to find a particular type of bicycling photo. There was no biking category, so I dug through several different sections. Just thought you might enjoy seeing some of what I DID come across....

I believe this is what is called a railbike....

thanks for these! really interesting.

rode one of those bicycle cab things a couple of times; once was in thailand and another time was on a little tour in charleston, sc, with my girlfriend at the time.

Those bicycle cab things are used in Surfers Paradise during the tourist season. I was going to get a job "driving" one a few years back, except that the owner (typical Gold Coast tourism operator) was a total jerk who liked ripping people off.

Thanks for the pics, Inkwolf!

Seeing the picture of the cuban cyclists reminds me of a story by Dave Eggers that appeared in Time magazine. Eggers, the author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, wrote a great travel article about a trip to Cuba. He mentioned that one year in the not too distant past, China shipped an aid package to Cuba in the form of one million bicycles. I wonder if the bikes in the picture were from that shipment.

Since we are sharing pictures...

I spent last summer in europe. Here's a picture of a bicycle in Amsterdam. The building in the background is a parking garage for bicycles.

I was in Beijing China two years ago - it was INSANE how many bikes were in that city. The city population is something like 13 million people (in ONE city!)...and there are reportedly like 9 million bikes in the city!
The vast majority are Giant brand bikes...though nothing like what you'd find at your local Giant dealer.

Here's a pic from the trip:

Pay Bike Parking Lot at night

I wish I'd take more pics of all the bikes...

Oh yeah, central station, the city council was sick of all those abandoned bikes so they build a shed and did a huge cleaning of the station area, what a waste of bikes.....

Bac, nice pics...but I think you need to modify your exposure time...they're moving too quickly for your camera!

Personally I would never pay to ride in one of those bike-cabs. I have a rule that if I spend money on bike-anything, I better have the priviledge of doing the pedalling. |8^) A friend of mine mentioned to me that during the summers in her town, they had opportunities for bicycle-icecream carts. Now that would be an awesome job. |8^)
