SR Suntour
It looks like SR Suntour is revamping their website. I went there this morning and it had a "under consrtuction" type message. I hope it is a sign that they are trying to compete with Shimano and SRAM. Checkout the site if you want, www.srsuntour.com

I've always gone with Shimano Groupsets, just because it was readily available, and the market leader.
I really do hope Suntour make a comeback...their XC Pro groupset was waaay lighter that Shimano Deore XTII in the early 90's, and looked the bees knees too...
Come on Suntour!!!!!

Thanks for the tip, Fubar--I thought Suntour was totally dead; that's how much in touch I've been with cycling things.
I'll check out that site.

I too hope that Suntour makes it to the US. However it depends on whether they feel they can compete here. Remember the e-mail I got from them?

SR Suntour is still making low end suspension forks. I don't think they are getting back in the component market based on their reply to Hunter's inquiry. Too bad.

My first new bike had Suntour Accushift 2000 groupo, it ran and ran and ran. It had the gear levers mounted next to the brake lever in a butterfly formation. I had it for 3 years, didn't have to adjust cable tension once. It's been on my dads fishing bike now, doing about 20 miles per day, for the last 7 or so years.
A quick note on the SR Suspension Forks. I've worked in Halfords bike and car parts superstore for 8 years, and I've only had to replace one set of them. And that 80% certainly was down to abuse, but being the nice guy(mug?) I am I replaced them anyway. They cost us about about $30(approx).

Well, I am a newbie to this biking business, but my Fuji Roubaix has Suntour GPX running gear, and it is great. My Sagres has Shimano, and I find that the Suntour shifts much crisper than the Shimano. Even when shifting the front chainrings, it shifts without hesitation going either up or down. Just my humble opinion, but I think the Suntour is nice stuff!!

Well this is good we should cut and paste this ans send it to Suntour.
I am running XC Pro on my primary MTB. I also have XT with XT thumbies on the Breezer and I will have to say that even though the XT is more quiet, the XC Pro works better. More positive I can shift it two or three gears at a time, and it never misses. The XT stuff is new and the XC Pro was bought used if that tells you anything. You can still get XC Pro stuff new from Third Hand but it comes with a price.
By the way https://www.recyccledcycles.com
Gets XC Pro stuff in sometimes. It is hit or miss because people are always buying it up. I did I got two rear der. a front (that I cannot use BUMMER!) and a set of thumbies I think it all was about $80.

Isn't it amazing a set of thumbshifters runs $60 - 80? Something it seems no one wants - I have yet to see another serious mountain biker running them in all of the years I have been using mine.
Third hand carries them sometimes. I also saw them at a bike swap this winter and the guy wanted $60 for them. Passed them up because my Shimano thumb shifters are still running strong after 6 years.

A guy I ride with(we call him Duke) rides with thumbies. He loves them, I have never tried them though, maybe I should.
