I went from old (5 years old) shimanos to the sidis with three velcro straps and the carbon soles. I don't know how narrow my shimanos were, but the sidis are sopposedly narrow (like all italian cycling shoes). The only real difference I tell is there is actually some arch support as opposed to the all flat bottoms of my other shoes.

I've only ever tried them on, but they run smaller than Shimano shoes. And not just in terms of width. If you're thinking of ordering them online, I would suggest you visit an LBS and try some on first.

Sidis run small and narrow. Get 1-1.5 size above your normal size and go mega if you need to.
Also, get proper insoles for them. The originals are pretty sh1te and for some reason Sidi puts one size too small insoles on their shoes. Go figure.

Just got my Sidi's (size 47 Reg) in last week. I also have carbon sole Shimanos in a 46.5 wide. The Sidi's really feel like slippers and are so much more comfortable. I never tried regular width Shimanos.
