YOU get on the sidewalk

Lets start yelling this back at motorists after they tell us to get on the sidewalk.

I'm always wondering if someone will yell "get on the sidewalk" to me some day. The streets I ride on, don't have sidewalks. (Well, there is a two block area just before my turn off that has sidewalks, but there is a sign posted at the beginning that says no bikes, no skateboards, no skating is allowed).

As I was driving a school bus load of middle school kids home we passed a woman riding a bicycle. One of the girls on my bus suggested the woman should be riding on the nearby KATY trail. I said: "Good idea. Automobiles aren't allowed on the KATY trail." "Of course, bicycles aren't allowed on Interstate 70. Why aren't we driving on Interstate 70?" She gave the obvious answer "Because it doesn't go past our homes." My reply was that maybe the woman on the bicycle felt the same way.

Or "thanks for the advice" or "Gee, I never thought of that!"

No reply to this except to be carefull. Keep hearing about the Gun and knife culture in the US and it is even getting across to the UK. Best thing to do is ignore it but note the registration no. report to the police as if he has caused you a problem- bets are on that he does it to others aswell. 2 reports over here and the Police have to follow it up.

They don't over here...at least not the ones I have reported to. I had a serial harrasser. After getting clipped twice in one week by the same idiot, and after 5 or 6 reports to the local police I changed my route. The good news is that karma finally caught up to the a**hole, he ran a red light and got creamed by a fair sized delivery truck. Saw the wreck on the way home from work and recognized the car. Stopped and gave the investigating officer an earfull about the previous driving and issues. They seemed to have cared less. That was about 18 years ago and I am sure it hasn't gotten any better in the interim.

I've done the same thing a few times. Their reaction is priceless. On the other hand, abusive drivers are so common here that even that wears thin after a while (i.e. I get bored with it). Usually I just ignore them.

The funniest one I ever saw were these two idiots in Murwillumbah. One of them yelled "get a car" which is mate followed up with "that's what the footpath is for". Work that one out if you can.

Someone yelled this at me last month. No sidewalks in Atlanta either. I thought it was pretty funny.
