ChrisL, you're making me look bad. Bad gorilla.

fubar5 04-09-03 09:03 AM

If he's making you look bad, he's making me look pathetic. I've got too much school work piling up in these last week of the semester. School before Bikeforums Challenge II, school before Bikeforums Challenge II....Only 3 more weeks, only 3 more weeks..

Gee, I didn't know it was a race! Maybe I should pull my finger out and start riding! ;) Have a look at the Spring Challenge on BP - Juciluci is making us all look pretty ordinary at the moment. And it isn't even snowing over here!

Sailguy 04-09-03 10:13 PM

I think sometime over the summer, we need to have a challenge week. See how many miles people can get in during one week.

Maybe in September, so I can get motivated to do the 500 mile tour down the California coast.

juciluci 04-10-03 12:29 AM

..i am sorry :(
i don't even know where i am in the challenge... i just have to get this riding in.. i only have about 3.5 months before i hit a real challenge(the rockies)...with a home move right smack in the middle of it!...
um i will be homeless for about 5 weeks(til my other place is finished).. anyone have a garage for my bike and i?..

i am so hyped up ... i can't sleep!!!

So are you apologising for losing track or whipping our butts?

juciluci 04-10-03 04:37 PM

:( what i meant was that i am working so hard and riding as much as the weather will allow.. i am not sure where in the challenge( geographically) i am.
if it's nice in the a.m.. i am out of here about 5 am til 6.30 or 7.. then work for a few hours.. if i can squeeze out another ride mid day i will, but lately it has been evenings for a few hours, as work has picked up, sigh.

but this weekend i have 2 x 160 km rides planned, provided life does not get in the way

chewa 04-11-03 07:06 AM

So far only 120 km. Better get my camping gear out.

fubar5 04-12-03 04:56 PM

Alllrighty. Went down to Savannah to do and earth day 50 miler. Next week is supposed to be 70 and sunny. Get ready for fubar5 to blast through Australia!!!

Dannihilator 04-12-03 09:40 PM

I'll be in the Pacific by then if I was touring.

Chris L 04-13-03 02:03 AM

Well, that was interesting. Only about 100km today of riding, but also a 24km bushwalk through rugged terrain through Lamington National Park. First the good (challenge related) news. I now have 675km, which has pushed me through Kalgoorlie (a slight detour in the route, I don't know why) and I'm well and truly on target.

The bad news is that on the aforementioned bushwalk I had a nasty fall on some slippery rocks near Ballunjui Cascades, and my left thigh is still sore. This could be a problem.

Chris L 04-13-03 02:11 AM

Addendum - now that I've been sitting down for a while, that thigh is really sore! This could be serious. I may have to cancel that errand I was planning this evening. Heck, I'm not even looking forward to getting up and walking to the other parts of my apartment when I turn off the computer.

Why didn't you get in touch. I could have loaned you a bike and we could have taken a ride together. Oh well, maybe next time.
Unfortunately we were only in Perth for one night on the way there and one night on the way home. We spent 12 days up at Geraldton visiting family. It would have been great to go for a ride as we have been contemplating moving west for a few years now, and I really have to check out the riding situation before we make any more plans. Thanks for the offer.

I could never be able to go that far

P. B. Walker 04-15-03 07:01 PM

I went past Southern Cross today by about 20 miles. Not doing too bad.

Chris L 04-15-03 09:24 PM

Turns out all my potentially nasty injuries were nothing. Good thing I know how to fall! :D Should reach Norseman by Friday.

"I would never be able to go that far."

I dunno, it seems a pretty weak limitation to accept..I thought I would never have enough money for a new bike in time for racing season....I've got a new bike..I thought I'd never make an A in chemistry, I've got an A in chemistry..Why impose a ceiling on your own ability by saying you'll never be able to do something??

ChipRGW 04-16-03 10:28 AM

I remember, back in September of last year, laughing at my wife when she suggested we ride together over to the local mall for lunch. "It's like 5 miles, EACH WAY!! HAHA, we'll NEVER ride THAT far!"
1300+ miles so far in 2003.
MS150 next weekend.

fubar5 04-17-03 04:44 PM

Joe Gardner 04-17-03 04:52 PM

OUCH! Thats a bad message. I'll see what i can email the webmaster and webhost about the problem. Maybe he just got sick of running the site? Its nothing you can do on your side....

Joe Gardner 04-17-03 04:57 PM

I'm talking to the host right now :)

juciluci 04-17-03 04:59 PM

thank you Joe!
