Pedals
I'm spec'ing out a new Cove "Handjob" that I'll build mainly as an xc ride and was interested in clipless/flat pedal combinations like Shimano's PD M-646. I love my clipless pedals but have to admit that a good platform pedal would be a nice option when riding really technical stuff like rock gardens and log jambs or for a short city ride without my spd shoes. I think it would add a little more confidence in those technical situations as well. When a friend of mine considered the same thing she was dissuaded from buying them for reasons she can't remember. Who has experience with these pedals and what is your opinion?
Thanks as always.

I don't have experance with the exact same pedal, but with a set of Wellgo SPD pedals with sneaker adapters clipped into on side. They work just fine, nothing special. The adaptors weigh the pedals where the clipess side is always facing up. I get a leval of flexablity that one or the other doesn't do and prevents damaging threads from removing and reinstalling pedals. They add a little extra bit of safty for night riding, as you get the amber reflectors on the adaptors and I think the pedals you're looking into have those reflectors too. If you use one sided road pedals, these aren't really a problem, and even if you get the flat side up you can still pedal off from a stop and turn the pedal over later.
