I'm not in the mood to title this thread...

... But let me just say that I hope the sad, brain-dead, useless tosser who stole my bike today has a very long, slow and painful encounter with SARS. I can't believe it! It was inside a garage. I know Southport is full of deads**ts, but it's still a shock! The one and only day I don't lock the bike up inside the garage, and it goes!

I guess all that's left now is to file a report to the cops and maybe check out the second-hand crap shops in Southport to see if it's turned up (probably a forlorn hope, but it's about my last shot at getting it back). I am not in a good mood tonight!

 :( :irritated: :crash:

Bruco 05-21-03 03:42 AM

Chris, really feel sorry for you. Let's hope the thief changes his/her mind and returns the bike or gets caught with it. You deserve it more than he/she does.

Juha 05-21-03 04:11 AM

Ouch. So this is what you meant by a sad, sad commute this morning? Here's hoping you get your wheels back soon.

:(

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

mrfix 05-21-03 04:39 AM

I feel bad for you chris, I hope you find the thief and give him what he's got comming. A bike thief is the lowest piece of garbage on earth.

Ed Holland 05-21-03 04:46 AM

Chris, that's really bad luck mate.

I think we all have some names in mind for the thread... and the theif.

sorry to hear that mate.

juciluci 05-21-03 05:08 AM

hey, Chris...that is just terrible. i'm almost at a loss for words.. i don't know what the stats are there on stolen bikes, but where i used to live.. it wasn't good. hope you have luck in finding it. :(

MikeR 05-21-03 05:42 AM

Oh Chris. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.
You haven't had that bike very long, have you?

RainmanP 05-21-03 05:46 AM

Chris,
I don't even know what to say. Sorry, man.

Man, I'm sorry... that's a horrible shock. I don't know what I would do if someone stole my bike. Probably curl up in the corner and suck my thumb for a month.

Do you at least have another bike to ride until this gets resolved? And is the bike insured so you can get another bike?

When I was in Perth, my sister and I lived down the street from each other. She used to u lock her bike to the balcony rails (3rd floor). One night, she neglected to lock her bike, while her fiance still locked his bike. The next morning, the bike was gone! It was upsetting, to say the least. I haven't had my bike stolen, but that was about as close as I've gotten to it, and lemmie tell you, it was stressful, but at least it was insured so she could get a new bike.

I hope they find your bike. Really.

diamondback 05-21-03 06:44 AM

ouch that hurt

lotek 05-21-03 06:44 AM

Chris,
man I don't know what to say.
but never at a loss for words I'll try.

You want an old Trek? (roadie) I could ship it over.
its a 21 inch, 670 all campy nuovo record.

Sars would be too kind of way to die for scum like that,
I'm putting my vote in for Ebola, or maybe funnel Spider
bite.

I have this really funny Australia e-mail I got but don't
feel like posting it now.

This is awful. Though the chances of it are slim, I hope you find your bike.

velocipedio 05-21-03 06:47 AM

in the old west, horse theives were ranked as low as murderers. so too should be bike theives. that really sucks, chris...

Sailguy 05-21-03 09:14 AM

Oh NO! I couldn't imagine, especially when its your primary (if not only?) means of getting around. If I get wind that that punk is anywhere around here, I'll give him a personal what-for.

Best of luck in recovery or selection of a new ride.

Rich Clark 05-21-03 09:21 AM

I've been there and I know the feelings of powerlessness, frustration and rage that wash over you when you realize it's gone. I'll never forget the day in 1973 when my wife's and my beautiful matched white Gitanes were stolen from outside the grocery store, leaving the chains and cables in a chopped up mess on the sidewalk.

I *still* want to find the thieves and string them up by their thumbs.

Insurance?

Having a bike stolen sucks, when I was younger, I had one of mine stolen, and I had a very good idea on who it was. I confronted him and of course he lied, but there was nothing I could do. I'm guessing it ended up in the bottom of a canal or a lake.

Try to think positively, you get to go bike shopping now!

Chris check around your neighbor hood. When that kind of theft happens around here it is usually kids joy riding. They see it sitting in the garage, hop on and ride it around. Post pictures around like you were looking for a lost dog, someone has seen it.

gonesh9 05-21-03 09:35 AM

So sorry Chris.
Although I'm sure the thief will get what he/she deserves in the long run, you're still left without your wheels.:( Hopefully it'll turn up somewhere...

Pete Clark 05-21-03 09:49 AM

What can I say, buddy...

People can be very low at times.

The bright side is, you will get another bike, or maybe you'll get yours back. Nothing will stop you. You're riding career is in no way over.

I wonder, if someone stole my only bike (which is what I have, one bike,) if I could sit still for my own "encouraging words."

Toothpick 05-21-03 11:34 AM

Sorry to hear about your bike. I hope you get it back undamaged, and the thieves get at least part of what he/she/they have coming.

I had a truck stolen before. The insurance co. called me about 6 mos. later to let me know that they found the frame/doors/transmission some 300 miles away...thanks for the call....like I want the pieces back. I consider thieves scum of the earth.

SellingEngland 05-21-03 01:05 PM

That really sucks!!!

Make sure to let the local shops know in case the scum sells it to someone nearby. Thieves are also pretty stupid and a lot of stupid people gravitate towards Ebay to sell their stolen goods.
