Finding a Bike Club

I just moved to Mountain View, CA, which appears to be extremely bike friendly so I'm going to get more serious about cycling. I'm thinking about joining a road cycling club but am wondering about how to find the right one to join. Is there a listing or directory?

Is there a California Cycling Association?

All the provinces in Canada have cycling associations, and then there is one overall Canadian Cycling Association authorizing/regulating all the provincial ones. Each of the provincial cycling associations has a list of clubs within the province, along with a bit of a description of each.

But I don't know how the US works.

I did searches for clubs in CA at USA Cycling and clubs in Mountain View, CA at the League of American Bicyclists.

Finding them is easy. Deciding which one(s) to join is harder.

Go to the appropriate regional subforum (Northern Calif or Southern Calif) and ask about road riding clubs in your area.
