Configuring Edge 305 elevation?

Just got hold of one, and the elevations states I'm below 40m sea level, anyway I can change the value in it? Or does it reset itself once it locate satellite?

it does that. everyone complains about the accuracy of the elevation on that but as you ride (at least on mine) it will correct itself. also once you upload the into the program has some correction software in it that fixes it too. not sure how it does that.

Does anyone know if the 205 does this? I'm thinking it's the barometric part that is casuing the problem?

Yep, it's the barometer that causes it. I had my GPS60CSx, which had a build in barometer and both shows the same elevation, but I'm able to calibrate my 60CSx instead.

Download and install the last software for it. That seems to have taken care of quite a few problems with the units. If you can turn it on about ten minutes before you start, you will have a much better initial altitude.

Bikes: Kuota Kreedo...looking for something different.

The one that have the barometer in it use the combo or a 3D sat lock and the barometer to get your altitude. A 3D sat lock is actually more accurate but less possible...After time it does get better as Torgrot mentioned.

I do not believe the 205 has a barometer in it. I think it relies on just the 3D lock...either way when you upload it I believe it smooths it out pretty well....
