Shakespeare on a bike
I was checking the Folger Library website and saw this for their current exhibition. From 1896.

Would like to see the inside of it, but it's probably locked in a case. Their reasoning might tell a lot about late 19th thinking about the new-fangled bicycle.
If I'm there on Sunday, whick is likely, I'll take a look.

I included the Folger Library in my ride today. Stopped in to see the exhibit.
It's a small pamphlet, maybe 3 inch by 5 inch. As I suspected, only the cover was on display. The tag said that it was an advertisement by a bike manufacturer. Included Shakespeare quotes, modified for bicycles, and illustrations of Shakespeare riding a bicycle.
Also I saw in the gift shop two t-shirts. One read "To bike or not to bike? There is no question." The other "Attend me where I wheel"
Tempting, but I've got too many t shirts already.
