Before and After

Thought I would show you guys what I did with the Jake the Snake I picked up off Craigslist. She went from a cool bike to a SWEET urban assault vehicle.

Tell me what you think, give me tips for what else I could do.

Bikes: roadbikes and full-suspension mountainbikes

Cool transformation. I'd remove the wheel reflectors and supplement elsewhere if desired.

Wow looks great! But why did you cover up the TT and DT?

/\/\ SBW, I don't think he particularly fancied the dayglo green "Kona" and the "Jake the Snake" decals.

See, the whole idea that a bike is a "she" by default in English is most strange. How can a Jake be a "she"? You must have a transsexaul bike or something.

Still, cool transformation.

Yeah but that's the cool part about Kona! Have you seen the latest ones? One of their bikes is dayglo green and the other flourescent orange!

I believe one of the downhill bikes is PINK!!

As is their Dura Ace road bike. But road bikes are supposed to be for sissies, right?

*Runs away*

Seriously though, do you know what year that is? I know someone with that color JTS, and he doesn't know what year it is (bought it used) but I'm curious.

There's also the issue of theft. Canny and knowledgable bike thieves are in abundance these days. Sometimes it helps to obscure the labels & logos.

Yeah I was thinking of asking them not to put the decals on my bike. The head badge might be good enough. I still have nine weeks to decide. *sigh*

I covered it for both asthetics and because a Jake the Snake is a pretty good frame, and worthy of theft. But it looks kind of bad ass with the electric tape on it.

As for the year, the guy thought it was a 99' but I haven't been able to find any pics online.

Yeah, the theft thing makes sense, especially since JTS is such a well known brand. For lesser known bikes with reasonably good components, those might be worth covering up more than the frame.
