biking video games
any of these out there. I'm looking at finally purchasing a video game system. I was wondering if there were any good biking games. I know what you're thinking "you're joking right?" Well no, I've never had an interest, but now that I have some really bad road rash..er.. off road rash, I have a lot of free time. In case you're wondering, I was treed by some goofus who decided he was going to pass me on singletrack without any warning. He just appeared out of nowhere. of course I initially thought i was going to hit him, but nailed a nearby tree instead. cracked 3 ribs and dislocated my shoulder. How ironic it was a "racer" in the public park I was speaking of earlier. So how bout it guys, any good cycling games?

I guess I'm getting old but the best "bike game" ever was Paperboy! It was actually an arcade game with handlbars as controllers. Paperboy was ported over to every major home console during the 80's and early 90's. You could get the game on the Commordore 64, IBM PC, Apple II, Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Master System.
The object of the game was simple. All you had to do was throw the morning paper by the doorstep of paid subscribers. You received extra points by hitting burglers, drunks and breaking the windows of nonsubscribers. All this while avoiding cars, cats, dogs and angry nonsubscribers!
What a game
P.S. You can still play the original PaperBoy using the Mame emulator.

DownHill Domination looks like it will be a pretty good game, rated four of five stars in PlayStation magazine. World Rally Challenge and The Colin McCrea rally games, while not riding bikes, do involve lots of fun sliding around in the dirt. PlayStation2 also has the Grand Theft Auto series (III and Vice City), the most involved free roaming games I have ever played. Tony Hawk 4 is very good also.

I think my favourite cycling-related video game is Prop Cycle. I just love that game. It also appeals to the pilot in me.

I saw on the G4 network last week that a Tour d' France game is coming out soon for the PS2. They weren't very specific about how the bike is contolled in the game, but it's one of those games based on car racing games, ie, the more races you win, the more you get to upgrade your bike.
