My big injuries (concussion & clavice fx; shoulder separation) occurred in the 1970s. Since then, nothing beyond an occasional road rash or muscle/tendon strain.

Somewhere between a scrape and a cut: the chainring took a huge gouge out of my knuckle when my hex wrench slipped. Not painful but bled like crazy.

On mothers day of 1997 I had a head on collision with a car.I was traveling around 30mph and going to make a right hand turn at an intersection. The problem was there was sand and cinders from the winter months still in the road and I started sliding out into the other lane while making the corner, when I looked up there was a car coming to the stop sign & my front wheel was sucked underneath the car with me still clipped into my pedals. While I was trying to get myself out from underneath the car being wrapped up like a pretzel the lady driver started to back up the car. I started yelling because if she went any farther it would have broken my left leg. After I freed myself my injuries wre major road rash on both forearms, hands and my right kneecap was exposed. The bad news is that I strted a new job and my insurance didnt go into effect for 30 more days so I did not go to the hospital, but my neighbor was a nurse so she took care of my dressings for a week until I could take care of my wound myself, It really grossed my wife out to where she would not do it. After about 3 months I was back to riding to my full potential again. I am alot more careful about going all out on corners now .

Gee, aren't scrape and cut, fracture and casted awfully similar?
My last injury was a torn posterior cruciate ligament (an unusual tear) that required arthroscopy.
When I was a kid I had one slide where I left most of my skin spead out on a steep hill over 2 blocks.

I just posted my injury last week, but I'll put it here anyway. I went off a small jump at about 25 mph (bottom of a hill) and crash landed it. Fractured my clavicle in two places, the bone fragment got twisted about 90 degrees and poked through shoulder muscle and pushed up on my skin, almost came through the skin too. I had to have surgery to set the bone and had a metal plate and screws put in to hold everything together. I also fractured a finger and jammed several others. A couple large scrapes and also cracked my helmet.

My latest was minimal, I was riding through a tight technical singletrack with lots of roots and through some tight trees. I misjudged a turn, and smacked another tree with my knee. Nothing more than a scrape, but I bruised the knee. Nothing major.

I've got a couple of scars from nasty scrapes and so on. However I've never actually broken a bone in my life. Nor do I intend to start now.

My rear tire just without explanation lost traction. Bike skidded out from under me causing my to hit the pavement in a rightward direction. Hit the pavement directly in the middle of my right shoulder. Caused the complete seperation of two ligaments attached to the rotor cuff.
facing surgery within the next two weeks. taking an eternity to get to the surgery. Happened April 25. HMO red tape.
Doctor says I will be off my bike at least 6 weeks. Probably can get on the trainer before 4 weeks have passed.
Took over 60.000 miles to get to this crash.

My last scrape was my dummy arse on the clipless, loosing balance, etc. My most serious one was a downhill 30mph crash on a very rough and rocky fireroad. Will keep those scars for a long time.

It was a warm winter day and I got a late start. At dusk the wet pavement turned to black ice. Made a turn and it was over. It really rang my bell, but the helmet saved me. Didnt see any blood and the tights weren't torn so I thought I was just bruised. Got home and looked it over, yikes those surface scrapes on the knee & elbow sure do bleed alot.

radial head fracture, last summer. Kept riding and I'm ok.
