Things like this can happen and do happen. I've done a few things myself that aren't terribly far removed from this. Cars are at a huge disadvantage in closely packed traffic -- and in some other situations as well.
(The video has fast- and slow-motion segments and some splices. I agree that it is largely fictional, but it can still be taken as a lively example of some of the sorts of things that can actually happen.)
Years ago, riding fast on the streets of SF, a cop tried to stop me, and I veered off into a gridlocked street. We never saw each other again.
I've grown out of that, and probably wouldn't do it again; but it was an adrenaline rush at the time.
