I apologize too
Like Pete, I apologize if my thread "Why do Americans have such big 'ol butts" was hurtful to anyone.
I was just joking around, but now realize it is a sensitive issue for many people.
Many (most?) people probably feel that their butts are too big no matter how perfect they really are.
Everybody is beautiful just the way God made them. No adjustments necessary.

Hey, that's cool man, we know you meant no offence. Maybe it could have been retitled: "why does obesity kill so many people these days?".
That is a serious issue.

Chris,
You do make me laugh! Sorry, you're right, obesity is serious...it's just the way you put it...and at 9am in the morning!....
Ggggggg, I need to wake up.

Mike,
My big ol' butt and I took no offense. Those of us posteriorly challenged who are posters here at BikeForums have recognized this and are actively trying to re-invent ourselves.

I had some family from Europe coming to visit me in the States recently. About the first things my nephews (7 and 4) told me was "there are so many fat people here"....

I have not been offended by any of the fat posts. Although chubby but getting trimmer, I can't believe how much some people let themselves go.
They are my inspiration.
I do hope the non-Americans reading posts here realize that we just happen to live in the same geography as the ugly Americans and we are just as offended by their girth, their loud voices, their hideous clothes, their closemindedness, their monolingual natures, their consumerist tendency to waste money, etc etc. I am sure that there are things about your own countrymen that many of you would prefer to dissasociate yourself from.

An example of the above is the whole 'drugs in sport' attitude. Every time an Australian sports person is caught, we get hammered with the "innocent mistake" plea, but anyone else caught is a "cheat". Yeah right.

You sure got that right! What's more, I suspect that there are an inordinate number of people in this country who would prefer to dissasociate themselves from me...starting with my first two wives!
Having spent several years addicted to IRC I've 'met' people from all over the world and have come to know several quite well. At the end of the day, I've found that there is remarkably little difference between any of us.

Mike,
Don't worry. I don't think anyone was offended. I certainly wasn't. I'm sure everyone realizes that there are FAT people and there are people who are overweight but trying to do better.
I think anyone on BF who has a weight problem is aware of it and they are trying to lose weight through diet and exercise. And like me they are proud of the effort they took to lose each pound.
Too many people have big ol' butts and don't care what they look like!
