What's up with Lickbike.com ?

I ordered a Brooks B17 saddle from Lickbike.com on Wed June 27 and have not received it yet. Today (friday,July 6) I called their 800 # and I get a recording saying they are open every day except Sunday. They sent me email on June 28 that my order was in progress and no email since. If they don't have it in stock they should at least email me with some info.

Perhaps they were busy and the phone went to the recording. They are a storefront shop with a very good reputation. Try calling again.

And it's only been 10 days.....

Called again today and got the same recording and now their website is down. That is not a good sign.

I've purchased rims & spokes from them over the past year or so and a couple of times they've been a bit slow to respond to my phone calls, but they've always been very apologetic when we eventually link up. Their products are great and at prices which can't be beat; perhaps they're just a bit busy sometimes…

My recent experience with Licktons is that they do not inform the customer that an item is on back order. I think they would do well to improve their software to send an email to the customer if an item is not available, so the customer can call back and say send me the rest of my stuff now, or I would prefer to wait until everything is available. That said, they have a very good selection and good prices, and I would recommend them to others. It would also be nice if they would email a tracking number when an order has been shipped.

My experience exactly.

I just recently placed an order for some things I needed to complete my new build.

The order was placed on Wed. in the AM, using their "Express shipping" option. This is claimed to be UPS 3-business-day ground shipping. I needed it to be delivered by the next Tuesday afternoon, which I thought was no problem. Wednesday was the July 4th holiday, and I wanted to finish the build the Tuesday before.

Tthe problem was, they didn't fill the order and get it to UPS until Thursday afternoon, and thus it arrived the following Thursday. It took the three business days as advertised, but just not the right three days!

For comparison, my order with BikeTiresDirect.com was placed at the same time that morning, and arrived Monday no problem.

I agree, their website ordering and order tracking system sucks. They're slow to fill and ship out orders (compared to most other on-line retailers I've used), and their insistence on having to call them during their working hours to check on order status is really inconvenient.

While their prices are some of the lowest around, I hesitate to ever use them again.

They just called me to ask if I still want the B17 saddle because the shipment just came in and I said yes.

Dredge

On Thursday 7/26/07 I called the lickbike store directly and asked if they had any Brooks B-17's in Honey in stock. The gent on the other end said they did, so I asked him to send me one. He took my particulars and thanked me for the order. He informed me that with shipping the price would be just on the south side of $60 and I should have my new saddle on Monday. I thanked him and bid him well

Fast forward 3 1/2 days. There's a knock on my door, it's 'Brown', he has a package for me from lickbike. Box opened and all is well. Proofide soaking in as I type.

From now on, forget nashbar and all their free shipping & 20% off day crap. They could have shipped for free AND gave me 20% off and it would have still been more than ordering from lickbike!

Hassle free shopping at it's finest!

they use UPS. Unfortunately for us CDN's, this mean and additional $40 "fee" on top of shipping and duties, no matter the amount of the order.

i'll be looking at other online bikestores as a result

I used them to order inexpensive tires as my funds are low and here is my experience...
I placed the order on June 28, my account was not charged until July 8, and the tires did not arrive until the 11th. I got what I paid for in spades. I did call to complain on the 10th and the tires arrived the 11th.
I know midweek holidays play havoc with shipping but still this was ridiculous!

I'm surprized they have such a booming internet business! I live 3 blocks from there and the store really isn't much of a store and they aren't really that friendly. Now I know why they are always squirreling around in the back, their shipping boxes.

Have you asked about alternate shipping methods?
