I HATE this
Seen on a college campus- $2000+ full carbon, [looked] brand new bianchi. The only problem was, the owner decided he didn't like the stock seat, so he switched it out for a seat from a cruiser bike, with a massive gel pad on top of it nonetheless. I'd love to be able to afford even an entry level to middle of the line road bike so I could do more serious riding. Here's a slob with money to burn defacing a beautiful bianchi. Not cool. It's probably never been ridden more than fifty yards at a time.

I saw a Trek carbon bike today with flat bars. It was a $2000+ bike.

I'd point and laugh. Unless someone did it as a joke. If the Bianchi/saddle thing was supposed to be a joke, it's funny.
The expensive Trek carbon with flat bars... not supposed to be a joke. It just screams "I WANNA BE LANCE!!!!!!" Yech.

Besides if it was a lance wannabe it would have drop bars.
I fail to see what is wrong with liking Lance even though I do not have a mindset to like or dislike him.

Maybe they didn't want to lug their $300 most favorite saddle around with them all day while the bike's locked up so they put a second not attractive to thieves saddle on it just for the days they have class...

Is it possible the owner loves the bike so much that he or she could not bear to leave it at home all semester but didn't want to go to class in bike shorts? I don't think I could handle one of those butt hatchets without some kind of padding so the owner of this bike probably put that seat on so it was more suitable for the purpose it was being used for at the time. Besides, how long does it take to swap a saddle to go on a different type of ride?

OK, I'll agree with the cr@ppy pedals - at least put on clips and straps - but all you folks that diss the triples must live in Kansas or Iowa! Bring your doubles to Kentucky and stomp up some of our mountains, then we'll see how you like your doubles!

Bikes: Dale MT2000. Bianchi FS920 Kona Explosif. Giant TCR C. Boreas Ignis. Pinarello Fp Uno.
Gearing is not a valid pont on hills- But strength of the rider and his stamina are. And Apparantly- On the TDF- Very few riders use Comact Doubles on the mountains- They mostly stay on the Normal double- to stay with the gearing their legs have got used to
I'm staying with the triple- Till they come out with a 22f- 34r gearing on a double. (I now have a compact 34/27 and can still do the hills and at a faster pace- but the legs hurt now)
