Newbie questions
I used to post here a couple of years ago when I first started riding & was commuting a few miles each way to do volunteer work.
Then I started a paid temp job where I had to drive 100 miles a day and worked 10 hour days 6 days a week. Didn't leave much time for riding so I basically put the bike up all this time. My job has ended (not bad for a temp job), I've been diagnosed with osteoporosis, have bad knees, and decided I'd better dust off the bike and get into shape so I can do the kind of exercise the dr. has required.
I have a 10 speed Schwinn Sprint and was just learning about how & when to change gears when I quit riding, and now I can't remember any of it. Also, my dd rode my bike and changed the seat position. I rode it today for the first time again & couldn't seem to find the right fit. How do you determine the right height of the seat & handlebars? I got a terrible crick in my neck from being bent over to reach the handlebars & trying to look ahead.
Is there a book or website that explains the gears & when to use them? And as long as I'm learning again, a book or website that has a diagram of the bicycle with names of each part?

Yes, I looked at his site earlier, but couldn't find a general diagram of a bicycle. To use the glossery, you have to know what the part it is first.
But I will go back & see if I can find the gear info there. Thanks.
