Northwest Cyclery in Houston
Any Houston folks familiar with them? They used to be one of the best bike shops in town. I am just getting back into cycling and went in to look for a bike for my wife and all they carry is the Giant brand. They used to carry all of the big name brand plus a few of the more exotics. It looks like they still have a club with lots of rides to choose from but are they still a top club in Houston? I was just a little shocked when I went in today and saw almost an empty store with only about 6 road bikes to look at.

I have not had much experience with them, but when my wife recently went in there to look for her first road bike she quickl left because they were giving her the used car salesman speech, trying to puch one of the few bikes they had on the floor. They actually said, "we can make any bike fit you." - (She could barely stand over the top tube as she is 5'1".)
The Northwest Cycling Club, from what I understand is still an excellent and active club. I have several friends who are in that club. (I am a member of another large club in the Houston Area)

I race for the 'Club'.
I'm not actually sure what's going on with the shop but there's lots of rumors. I dont like to gossip about stuff like that so i'll not. The shop has taken some big hit's in the past couple of years because the brands they were carrying went out of business.
The Club is almost a whole different animal and is going strong.
If you need some advice on shops email (cant surf very often) me and I’d be happy to recommend a few.
