Pedal stroke: on the ball of your foot, yes, but where?
I just got some new Candy SL's and Diadora Chili's for my cross bike. The Diadoras have two cleat mounting points, I chose the one closest to my heel. However, when I ride, it feels like the pedal is too far up on my foot.
I'm wearing a size 45 shoe (I usually wear 10.5-11 US), and it feels like I'm using the back of my toes on my pedal stroke rather than the balls of my feet. I tried to feel through the shoe to see what was striking the cleat, and it seems like I'm on the very front of the ball of my foot. Is this OK?
There's a good thumb width between the end of my big toe and the end of the shoe, but there's not much room between my little toe and the end of the shoe at all the way it's pointed, so I'm afraid if I sized down to a 44 my feet would get cramped. Where exactly on the ball of your foot should your cleat be?

Don't know if this is correct, but it is the way I have my MTB and road bike set up. when I'm clipped in the base joint or ball of my big toe is directly over or slightly behind the axle of the pedal. anyhoo, it works for me

Yeah, that's how mine is. I noticed that there are grooves in the shoe where the mounting points for the cleats come out, and they run a bit long...is there anyway to slide the mounting points back?
