Finally responding to Clint on the broken leg thing.
I was getting towed behind a 4wd on a car hood (way out in the woods so traffic wasn't an issue, although with recent experience I question the safety even with the lack of traffic!), and my foot caught a big rock and one of my ligaments ripped a chunk out of my Navicular bone. Go figure, everyone tells me how dangerous road riding is and I break my foot sledding (I guess I can laugh at them now since I hurt it doing something they themselves would do).

Has anyone else had problems opening the ActiveBody site? For the last few days I get it to open for me.

Hey bertt,
Try killing the Activebody cookie (with your browser closed) and try it again. Something is going on with the cookie and I have not figured it out yet. People that are using the "Remember Me" feature tend to have it, but then I have other users (my wife) that have used the Remember Me feature since day one and had no issues.
Give that a try and let me know what you find out. But to answer your question, the sites been up and running all weekend.
Hope this helps,
-Clint

Yea, sorry that you had the error... would you mind posting your browser version and if you were using the "Remember Me" feature.
Others... if you use the Remember Me function and it works... let me know. Thanks

Man I thought I was "hip with the kids" with respect to all the browsers, but I've never heard of Comcast... will dig a little, thanks Bertt.

As for the trainer thing, I have a Cat-Eye Astrale which counts cadence and works off the rear wheel. I find that in 30 minutes I go about 7ish miles at a cadence of between 90 and 100. There are so many variables to this though as a lot depends on the gearing you choose as well. My speed is about 14 MPH on average. In the off season I mainly work on pedal stroke and cadence, and 30 minutes is my max. I can’t bear to be on the trainer any more than that.
(Also the 14 mph is a bit misleading as well because I averaged 19.7 on the road last year over 1,000+ miles.)

Yup- he has broadband cable, I bet - Comcast's installation did that to my IE browser, too, when we first got broadband.

Joining...
Well I joined about a week and a half ago, and have since been recording all the riding ive been doing. I started doing this in a book early last year but only made it to June before giving up, hopefully seeing everyone elses distances will keep me motivated enough to keep filling in my details. Should be great! Heres hoping I catch up to everyone.
Matt.

Matt, I find a good motivation tool is the challenge series board. Pick a person on it and try to keep ahead of them or pick a position on the board that you don't want to fall below ( In the summer I never let my self fall below 50th on the challenge series board).
Another thing that has worked for me is to place a total miles bet with another person on the board (wink wink Carl) and then the loser donates to the winner’s charity of choice (small $ values are fine; the point is the added motivation not the money involved).
In any case welcome aboard and have fun!

*edit* DOH, Iv'e fallen to 52nd (back to the trainer).

I gues I have a little different take.
I ride (both indoors and out) when my other responsibilities, job, family, weather and other factors combine so that I have the time, place and opportunity.
Having competition will not in any way change those other factors, so "I ride when I ride!"
Each to his own!

I have a goal of getting into the top 10 in running by the end of the month. Not sure if I can do it... but I need to get ready for this half marathon and the only way to do it is to run...

I signed up for the weight loss team thing, but I have found that it's a blast to compare my numbers to others. It's kinda like going out on a big ride that's advertised as a no drop ride, then turns into a hammer fest and everybody falls into their own little group races.
I like the idea somebody had before about individual challenges where the loser donates to the winner's charity.
A question though, I am in the weight loss team, and the Bike Forums cycling team, are there any others I can get in?
