whats the difference between Crank Brothers Smarty Pedal and Crank Brothers Candy C SE Pedal....is it worth the extra money?

If you are putting them on a road bike, the C's are good. If yopu are putting them on a mountain bike, SL's are the way to go.

Smarty's do suck. I like the Look type pedals either by Look or Shimano. No hot spots, nice wide platform and very comfortable for that loooong ride.

I have found the newer fancier pedals basically worthless because they don't support your foot as it's pedalling down in a solid wayl. Even Lance Armstrong only used the Look type Dura-Ace pedals exclusively.

I have three sets of Candy-C's and will ride on nothing else. A little too much float for some, but just fine for me.
