Beijing Road Race

I'm watching the race finally and it's hardly the beginning of the race and I'm noticing cyclists pulling off and stopping (notably when they pass the "birds nest" and "water cube" so far). I saw they had the musette bag around their necks as they stopped but I thought they ate while moving, I didn't know they completely stopped to eat.

Also, I'm watching the video how it was shown on t.v., not the full 6 hours, so I'm assuming they cut out the feed zone? Oh well. If someone could help me out here I would appreciate it, thanks.

There were mad and shouting, Dang it, I ordered the Chow Mein!

Dunno, must be a perfectly logical explanation.

Bikes: a lowrider BMX, a mountain bike, a faired recumbent, and a loaded touring bike

They already ate before the race...
But they were hungry again five minutes later!

Classic Chinese Food.

I'm think I spotted someone grabbing something that looked like a block of chocolate from their back pocket while moving
or some kind of rectangular edible thing

I'm pretty sure they have to eat a whole lot on such a race

Lets ask the more important question, were there pee stations? The whole route looked pretty urban right up to the Great Wall.
