Homemade Frame Adapter
I need to get my wifes bike to North Carolina for a campign trip this weekend and I hate the way it fits on my trunk rack. The sloped top tube make it sit at such a steep angle that it catches a lot of wind and ruins my fuel economy and makes the whole rack shake and shimmy in the wind.
They make a commercial product that would solve this problem: https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...%20Accessories

But I decided that I could build a similar device from stuff I already had in my garage.
2 u bolts and a piece of conduit later I had this:

Sorry the pictures are a little blurry.
I took the conduit and cut it to length. I pounded it flat with a hammer at both ends and drilled holes that lined up with the U bolts. I added wing nuts for easy install and removal. As a final precaution I took some yellow pipe cleaners and safety wired the wing nuts on so they don't rattle loose and fall off in transport.
This should work fine and improve my fuel economy by at least a couple MPG.
