I have mine registered with the locals. My home insurance required it. If it gets stolen and you manage to find it, as mr williams did, you don't need to find your receipt and all of that to prove its yours. I had my bike lock sieze up once and had to get the police to cut the lock for me. They knew it was mine so they had no problems cutting it for me.

I've been planning to register mine, but I don't know if it's worth bothering. I remeber when I had one stolen last year, the first thing I did was go and buy a replacement immediately. Even if the police had managed to find it, they would have had to track it down within about 10 hours of the original theft. That is not going to happen, registered or not.

I have registered 2 of my bikes.. They started implementing the "bike registration ordinance" last year, and the local traffic police has been starting to impound bikes they caught in the street w/o the license plates..
Anyway, several clubs protested on those license plates being "dangerous"... but it was really just an eyesore
.. So we have agreed that the registration OR is good enough. So whenever I'm stopped becuase my bikes don't have plates on them, I just show the OR.. And they understand.
