Question about SPD pedal compatibility
I'm looking to get some shoes finally, for spinning now and, soon when I get my bike, for fitness riding.
I'm wondering which manufacturers cleats will clip in to the SPD compatible (I'm assuming) spinning bikes at my gym. I specifically like these (for purely aesthetic reasons) : Crank Brothers Pedals Time ATAC Look Keo and Look Quartz If I'm out of luck, then I'll deal with the choice between functional compatibility and more cost. |
SPD stands for Shimano Pedaling Dynamics. You are going to have to use a Shimano style cleat.

none of the pedals and cleats are interchangeable between different manufacturers. exception being licensed copies like wellago has.
the only thing the SPD style pedals have in common is the cleat mounting pattern, which is 2 hole. |

and as the others have stated - cleats are pedal type specific, i.e., shamino compratible =/= time atac =/= speedplay frog =/= loooook qratuz (in the pavement  ) =/= VP bebop =/= crank (what, they broke already?) bros |
Shimano cleats and 90s vintage Ritchey logic will clip in.
But the Ritchey's won't clip out. |
Recently came back from the gym and it looks like our bikes' pedals are SPD on one side and KEO (at least very KEO looking) on the other side. I'll just ask them the next time I remember.
Thanks for the responses. |
Wellgo pedals work with shimano cleats, and visa-versa.
