I once had to walk 6 miles in my Kool Kovers after running out of tubes. It was a bad ride home. Needed to replace them when I was done, but they made the walk possible.

Argh could/would never walk in my road shoes. Stocking feet if I had to.

That's unfortunate. I know they're not the lightest or easiest to clip into pedals on the market but this is exactly why I use them. Maybe I should start watching ebay for another pair.

I've used SPD-R (sucked), Times, and borrowed a pair of SPD-SL's for a few rides after one my Times broke in half shortly after my one and only wicked road crash. The Quattros are without a doubt the easiest to walk in road pedal I've ever used and they're very tolerant of sand and mud.

I have heard they're prone to hot spots if the soles of your road shoes aren't particularly stiff though.
