Milestones

Just gloating about a couple of personal milestones that have come up in the last 24 hours.

Yesterday afternoon - 5,000km for 2004 (so far).

This morning - 7,000 km without any flats.

That's all I had to say, so I'll shut up now.

7000k's without flats? You sure are lucky. Whats the bet now youve bragged about it, you'll get one on the way home tonight.

Well done on both milestones.

What is your distance target for 2004?

Nope, survived that, too! Admittedly, 2,349 of those km were in Tasmania, where there is considerably less broken glass than Queensland, but who cares! I'm after my record of 12,000, set in 1999.

I haven't really set a yearly distance target. I'm gunning for an imperial century in every month of the year, but beyond that I haven't really thought of one.

I'm not sure what my puncture record is like (although I haven't punctured for quite a while) but my front tyre has just given up after travelling across Australia and doing heaps of kilometres since returning.

I felt a bit of a thump about a kilometre out from home this morning. On closer inspection I noticed that a section of the tyre had bent out of shape.

Oh well - I figure it's done about 8 thousand kilometres or I don't mind throwing on a new one.

I just went over 1000 miles for 2004. That puts me on track for over 4000 miles for the year.

Good job. I just crossed 4,450 km for 2004 with one flat in 19,440 km.
