Born To Ride?

Genetic testing company claims it can tell you what sport you were born to.

Expensive rubbish, largely.

"Mr. Smith, our test show that you have one of several genes which express themselves through endurance events. This means that you should be a cyclist."

"What about distance running?"

"Ah, yes, that too"

Or swimming?

"Ah, yes, that too"

Or race walking?

Ah yes...

Or high altitude climbing?

Etc., etc.

There are much easier and cheaper ways to test potential

Bikes: Bacchetta Giro A20, RANS V-Rex, RANS Screamer

Could I just send them some money instead of blood or scrapings from my inner cheek (of the mouth) or whatever? They could just email me the info as soon as I give them a credit card number.
Boy, I can hardly wait!

Rubbish indeed.
Made for super-competitive yet insecure parents with lots of extra money to throw around.
After all, what kind of parent wants to be embarrassed by their child underachieving in a sport of the parent's choosing.
The horror.
