Searching Forums

Am I doing something wrong? I have yet to make a very sucessful search with the forum search feature. Any clues? IE: I am confident that helmets have been discussed out the wazoo and the search produces pages and pages of fluff? Pointers?

Make sure you time limit the search. What are you looking for regarding helmets? I just searched helmets in the last 6 months and most returned looked relevant. If you want a comparison, I don't think you will find much.

You're doing better than I am.

The search function isn't all that great, you might try a site search with google for better results, too. At least use the advanced search feature with a more specific phrase than just "helmet" and limiting it to appropriate forums would probably give you better results.

Bikes: a lowrider BMX, a mountain bike, a faired recumbent, and a loaded touring bike

The Bike Forums site search has been changed recently. It used to be set of "Relevance" as the default setting, now the default is "most recent".

Try changing the setting to "Relevance".

Bikes: Allez, SuperSix Evo

Alternative:
1. Go to Google.com.
2. Type:

site:bikeforums.net helmets

3. Press the Search button or hit Enter on your keyboard.

You'll get google search results for relevant pages in bikeforums.net only.

And ever since the change, the search feature, which was working just fine, stopped working. I hope "they" are in the process of fixing it ...... but it has been about a month now.
