Have you considered that his real name might be Benjamin Laden?

I would have to say that would be very unfortunate.

If he has a legitimate name, let him speak for himself. I should think, however, he's related to that Frank Rizzo chaaracter of awhile back.

I agree. I couldn't care less what he calls himself. If that's his real name then so be it. If he's trying to be funny, he just has massive problems. That's all.

For what it's worth, I have heard a number of 9-11 jokes -- none that I would repeat, mind you. One of the things that you do have to keep in mind, though, is that in much of the world outside the US, the United States' prosecution of the war has led to a kind of backlash. There are people who, while not necessarily advocates of the kind of violence visited on American on September 11, who have had their sympathy for America sapped. This is how they express their frustration.

This is true, and sad ...,But to say anything remotely anti-American on a predominately American website, or be it chat room, is to say the least very brave ? , stupid ?,is asking for trouble !.

Well... I guess a lot of people don't see the Net as predominantly American one way or another.

The bottom line is that you have to expect that people will disagree with you and that, from time to time, they'll express themselves in a way that, though not necessarily calculated to give offense, nevertheless does.

It's difficult to put up with someone who expresses ideas and opinions that you may not agree with, or that you find repugnant, but sometimes we have to. I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend your right to say it.

People in WTC and inside hijacked aircraft were not representing the US government in any way. They were civilians. There were also citizens of other countries in these buildings.

I can not exclude that some of them could be muslims or crtical of the US policies.

Ironically, majority of the hijackers were also unaware victims of the coming murder.

I noticed that our new "friend" has zero posts. Let's hope it stays that way. Anyone with that sick of a sense of humor(?) needs a big time reality check. A good dope slap wouldn't hurt too much. Not that I'm prone to violence mind you.

Some might say that the only way to deal with this kind of tragedy is to laugh about it. For instance I know some very tasteless jokes about Diana's death. It's a kind of 'Don't let the b******s get you down' mentality.

On the other hand, I do feel that it's a bit tasteless. For the same reason that I wouldn't go around in a tshirt saying "**** you". You never know who you're offending, and do you really want strangers to only know you for that?

I don't mind having a laugh about just about any topic. Heck, I've heard a heap of WTC jokes myself. However, the issue is that one shouldn't try them on an audience who are unlikely to appreciate that humour. This is why none of the one's I heard have appeared in the jokes forum here as yet.

It's so sad that some folks cannot grasp the concept of our common humanity but will instead tend to view events like 9-11 as an American tragedy. Human decency dictate that such staggering loss of human life should not be fodder for sick jokes based on some festering nationalistic enmity. For God's sake, let's give Him a little hope for us, huh?
