QBS?
We've all heard the propaganda about supporting your LBS (local bike shop). Well, I propose from now on to support what I will call Quality Bike Shops or QBS's. Today I took a 60mile round trip bike ride into Philadelphia to have my favorite shop true my back wheel and pick up a few items. Although there are several closer shops I don't like to give them my business anymore.
Anyway, this shop is called Trophy Bikes.
https://www.trophybikes.com/
What a wonderful shop this is. They encourage transportational cycling and give classes in bike maintainance and effective cycling. They sell some unique brands of bikes and have all sorts of goodies for the commuting cyclist, racks and bags and lights and fenders and clothes. The other shops I've been to are only interested in racing and recreational riding. I even get strange looks when I arrive at these shops on my bike and not in a car.
Anyway, I took my bike in and was told the wheel would be ready in about 45 minutes. I took a little walk and when I came back the bike was waiting for me. The mechanic had not only trued the wheel but also adjusted the rear derailler cable at no extra charge. He then mentioned that my chain was really stretched out and should be replaced as soon as possible. He wasn't trying to sell me anything though, just looking out for me.
I just wanted to give this shop some praise and remind everyone to support their QBS.

Thats good  , A LOT depends on the customer , some come into the shop and expect you to drop everything ! they are sometimes rude, arrogant, pissed off,, self-righteous a$$holes who complain about the littlest of things .....these people remain at the end of the queue !!, then on the other hand , there are people who are happy, friendly,easy-going ,these are the people who get maybe a tweak of the deraileur, lube the chain etc at no cost, and they honestly appreciate it ...and say thank-you...with a smile !

Friday I stopped in after work to get a new tire. The owner was so friendly. He even showed me how he had just received a new order of those same tires, per our phone conversation the day before.
In fact, the last time I went in, another guy offered to let me try out the Burley Django 'bent in the window. I wish I had had the time!
