Oxalic Acid

I have a question about the awesome powder acid known to man

what would happen if a painted frame was soaked in Oxalic acid?

Well, it would probably remove any stray rust stains.

Why do you describe it as "awesome"?

Nope...I use it all the time for rusty parts. It plays hell on galvanized though...

It will not damage the paint. But it will damage any decals which are not under a clear coat.

To clean up rust inside the tubes. I did it with a Moby frame I have, then treated the inside of the frame with linseed oil. You can also use a commercial frame treatment like Weigle if you want.
