Cost of Bicycle Production
Anyone know of any firm information regarding the amount of CO2/environmental waste that goes into the production of bicycles? Very open-ended topic, just wanted to see if anyone had any #'s, websites, etc.

I have never seen anything but as a pure guesstimate way less than 1% of that which goes into making almost any auto. Steel and aluminum are the main components of all except carbon fiber bikes, and by weight probably most of CF bikes too. Minimal amounts of plastic for most saddles and for cable housing liners and covers. Some saddles such as Brooks use leather and metal only. Also a small amount of rubber and synthetic fiber for tires and tubes. No to minimal use of lead and copper compared to a motor vehicle.
Also, again other than carbon fiber bikes, almost fully recyclable as the main components again are steel and aluminum.
