Then you shouldnt be buying online, there is no way you can buy a proper-fitting bike from the net, unless you know what size and geometry is right for you.

You need to go to a proper bike shop and see the bikes for real.
You should be able to chose from 3/4 different brands across a few bike shops, but go with the shop you like best.

The real question you should be asking is, how can I find a good local bike shop.

What kind of riding do you want to do
(road/MTB/touring/commuting)?
How big/athletic are you
(ie do you need special fitting or will stock bikes be OK)
Where do you live?
That should give people enough info to help more.

Ok, that part i planned on doing, but thanks for taking the time to tell me. I just wanted to know some sites so i could compare prices to how much a shop would charge me. Online is generally cheaper. I'm wanting to get into Touring, i live in Houston. I'm only 6'1 155 lbs, and i'm not in too bad of shape, although i've been slacking off on my running (i hate the cold). Thanks

Normal size range, so stock bikes should be fine.
Touring bikes are a niche product. You have REI Novarro, Trek 520, and Bruce Gorden BLT, and possibly Fuji. Discount sellers are unlikely to stock these.
Anything more is going to be a custom or boutique bike, like Rivendell , Waterford, or your local speciality frame builder.

HenryJames.com has a good index to custom builders.

Not forgetting Canondale, always good for bigger riders.

Online retailers WILL NOT give you the same personal service as your LBS. And if you have problems or questions you can't take the bike back for adjustments.

Since this is your first bike get it from your LBS. In the long run their prices may be less than online.
